Garden hiatus

Sorry guys, no garden edition this Monday. I was still catsitting for my friend Mark yesterday, so instead of taking pictures of my garden I played with the kitty, and some t-shirt yarn, and my camera, and tried to forget about the fact that I even had a garden, which is…a GREAT sign!


Ahhh, that’s better. I promise to get back to you next week with an honest, matter-of-fact  post entirely devoid of emotions and tears, about the state of our garden. After all, this experiment isn’t titled ‘Is an urban garden in autumn worth the trouble’ for nothing. If the answer is ‘no’, then well, that’s an answer too, isn’t it?

As a consolation price, here is a cool blog by someone who’s garden is not a sinkhole for hopes, dreams, and baby crops!

How to turn old t-shirts into yarn 1

…but first, let’s answer the burning question on everybody’s minds: why the hell would you?

Cutting up old t-shirts and turning them into yarn is definitely a labor of love. It takes quite a bit of time and effort, and the end result is never going to come out as slick and professional as mechanically produced yarn.
